The African National Congress was formed in 1912 in South Africa, to represent black South Africa, to represent black South Africans. It opposed the policy of apartheid, where the black Africans were separated from the whites and not allowed to vote, and worked to win equal rights for the black Africans. The African National Congress was successfully in getting apartheid abolished and winning the right for blacks to participate in the government.
