There are hundreds of ethnic groups in Africa. Each of these groups has its own religious beliefs and practices. Is it any wonder then, that Africa has hundreds of local religions? All these religions, however, emphasize the existence if a supreme God but lesser gods and the spirits of ancestors are also worshipped in most religions. These religions stress on many rituals to lessen human suffering and win the favor of the Gods.
